Sustainable and Impact Finance Internship (September and March starts)

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated, analytical and entrepreneurial intern to support our projects and contribute to the development of sustainable and impact finance in Belgium.

The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an emerging and fast-growing sector while working directly with professionals from investment funds, banks, pension funds, public institutions and impact organisations.

You will contribute to projects that influence investment practices, market development and policy discussions in Belgium and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

As an intern, you will work closely with IFB’s team and contribute to a variety of strategic projects. Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting research and analysis on sustainable and impact finance topics (e.g. market sizing studies, EU regulations, catalytic capital, affordable housing, sustainable agriculture and other emerging themes).
Collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data.
Supporting the preparation of reports, presentations and other projects deliverables.
Attending meetings and contributing to project follow-up.
Engaging with stakeholders, experts, and network members across the ecosystem.
Supporting the organisation of events, working groups and other IFB activities.
Assisting with day-to-day operations tasks and the successful delivery of IFB projects.

Knowledge and Experience

The Ideal candidate should have:

Work Experience

We are looking for candidates who: 

Are currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree or enrolled in a Master’s programme in Finance, Economics, Business, Sustainability or a related field.
Have a strong interest in sustainable and impact finance.
Have a basic understanding of finance and financial markets.
Are proactive, curious and eager to learn.
Can work independently and take initiative.
Enjoy working in a collaborative and team-oriented
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Are comfortable working with both quantitative and qualitative information.
Communicate fluently in English and in French and/or Dutch.
Share IFB’s ambition to contribute to a more sustainable and impactful financial system.
Are curious, critical thinkers eager to learn and contribute to IFB’s mission.

What we offer:

Location: Brussels (hybrid working model).
Duration: 6 months.
Start dates: March and September.
Full-time or part-time arrangements can be discussed.
Paid internship, under either a university internship agreement (convention de stage) or a Professional Immersion Agreement (Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle – CIP).
